- Subsidy:
- 60% subsidy for systems up to 2kW.
- 40% subsidy for systems between 2kW and 3kW.
- The subsidy is capped at 3kW capacity.
- At current prices, the subsidies are as follows:
- ₹30,000 for 1kW system.
- ₹60,000 for 2kW system.
- ₹78,000 for 3kW system.
Eligibility Criteria:
If you are willing to get benefit, then you should meet following criteria.
- Must be an Indian citizen.
- Must own a house with a suitable roof for solar panels.
- The house must have a valid electricity connection.
- The household should not have already received any other solar panel subsidy.

How to Apply for PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijlee Yojana: Simple Steps
Step 1: Register on the Portal
- Go to pmsuryaghar.gov.in.
- Click on “Apply for Rooftop Solar” or use the direct link available on the site.
- Enter your mobile number and validate it with the OTP.
- Choose your state and district.
- Select your electricity distribution company.
- Enter your electricity consumer number and your name.
- Provide your email.
- Upload a copy of your electricity bill and a photo of the rooftop or area where you want to install solar panels.
- Enter the captcha and click “Submit.”
Step 2: Log In and Apply
- Use your consumer number and mobile number to log in.
- Fill out the application form for Rooftop Solar.
Step 3: Get Approval and Install the Plant
- After receiving the feasibility approval, select a registered vendor from your DISCOM and get the solar system installed.
Step 4: Submit Plant Details
- Once the installation is complete, upload the plant details and apply for a net meter.
Step 5: Get Commissioning Certificate
- After the net meter is installed and inspected by DISCOM, a commissioning certificate will be generated.
Step 6: Receive Your Subsidy
- Upload your bank account details and a canceled cheque through the portal.
- You will receive the subsidy amount in your bank account within 30 days.
